As a doctor and a proud mother, my daughter and I are always on the lookout for books that not only entertain but also educate. Our recent discovery, a children's book that beautifully rhymes about hijab, has left us absolutely delighted. It is an enchanting journey of representation, diversity, and cultural appreciation that we were fortunate to embark upon. The Authors Doaa and Karter visited us at ICSC with big smiles. They are true to their mission to empowering young Muslim children with creativity. When I insisted to pay for the book and plush doll, they would not accept my money and gave it as a gift to us. Doaa is so really so full of love! So, before I buy something, I try to make a habit of reading the bad reviews in addition to the good reviews - to see if there's anything *actually* concerning or if it's just "I didn't like this".

One of the reviews I read before buying this (great) plushie said something like "and her hijab changes to puke green, pee yellow, and blood red (not an exaggeration). I just feel like it should turn colors she enjoys!"

I feel like this person missed the point of the book. The point was her hijab changes colors with her emotions - and yes, it is true that it turned green when she felt nauseous, as well as turning red when she had chickenpox, BUT it ALSO turned pink when she was feeling loved/love for others, rainbow when the rain ends and there's a rainbow in the sky, purple when she "ate a yummy grape"... (you get the point).

Other reviews said they "wished she had hair under her hijab" but to me, her having no hair under her hijab makes exactly as much sense as Barbie not having genitals. Like, it makes sense to me that it's not there. It's not the point of the doll. You see her hair in the book if you're really that eager to know what it looks like.

Anyway, I'm gonna conclude this review by saying I like the doll and I hope the kid I am getting it for likes it too. Her mom will probably be mad at me for getting the kid ANOTHER plushie (she has a lot) but she'll get over it. I hope. Hahaha.
